Ankara, selected as the ‘Turkish World Tourism Capital’ for 2026 by the Organization of Turkic States, is increasingly distinguishing itself on the international stage through a diverse range of cultural and artistic events. In line with this prestigious designation, the ‘Başkent Ankara’ (Capital Ankara) painting exhibition, which focuses on the historical and cultural assets of the capital city, has been unveiled to the public, drawing significant attention from art lovers.
Minister Ersoy: Aim to Increase Tourism Visibility
Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, visited the exhibition, which is being held in the Foyer Area of CSO Ada Ankara. During his evaluation of the event, Minister Ersoy underscored Ankara’s substantial potential as a tourism destination. He stated, “Ankara was chosen as the Turkish World Tourism Capital by the Organization of Turkic States for 2026. Within this framework, we are organizing numerous events in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and local administrations. Our goal is not only to carry out cultural activities but also to promote Ankara as a tourism destination among Turkic states.” This initiative aims to elevate Ankara’s profile and attract a broader international audience, particularly from the Turkic world.
24 Works by 22 Artists
The exhibition proudly features artworks created within the scope of the Art Square Project, which was implemented as part of the Türkiye Culture Road Festival. A total of 24 pieces, crafted by 22 talented artists, were prepared in 2025. These artworks vividly portray Ankara’s historical structures and significant landmarks, bringing them to life on canvas. The collection offers a unique artistic perspective on the city’s rich heritage, inviting viewers to explore its past and present through the artists’ interpretations.

The ‘Başkent Ankara’ exhibition is accessible to visitors in the upper floor foyer area of CSO Ada Ankara until April 10. The exhibition’s primary objective is to make the capital’s cultural heritage and tourism potential more visible through the medium of art.
